It's an extra special day when we get to welcome an expecting mama into our Vancouver Maternity Boudoir Studio. It's even more special when the person is my dearest second shooter, someone I mentored and a friend! Kim wanted her Vancouver maternity photos to have a sleek editorial vibe, keeping things elegant and timeless, and she loves my black and white photography but we also shot some colour because why not have the best of both worlds!
In our Vancouver Portrait studio expecting mama's get to take a load off for the day and enjoy celebrating the wonder of growing a little human within - which is no easy feat, something I know very intimately. Full hair and makeup is included, so that all you have to do is show up and we will take care of the rest!
A question I get asked often is: "can you do boudoir when you are pregnant?" and the answer is YES absolutely! Look at Kim's photos, we took what I would call a sensual editorial approach, these photos could be the front cover of a magazine don't you think! If you want to include your fur baby into the photoshoot I am open to that as I love pets and lucky for you my studio is pet friendly!
Another question I also get is: "when is the best time for a maternity photoshoot?" I usually say between 30-34 weeks depending on how your pregnancy is going. It's really up to you and your comfort which is what is most important for us at Mateus Studios.
My biggest piece of advice when it comes to maternity photos is to do them. I am so glad I have those photos to reflect on and I know you will be glad you have them too! Thank you so much Kim for having me capture this special time in your life, and what an extra special treat to have your fur babies join us!
