FAQ: Do I Bring My Own Lingerie To My Boudoir Photo Shoot?

Answering Your Questions About A Boudoir Photo Shoot & Lingerie

I’m so excited that you’re thinking about treating yourself to the most incredible and empowering boudoir photo shoot experience!

Of course you have questions and I’m here to answer them! As with any photo shoot, Personal Branding or Boudoir, the most common question is what do I wear?! Well let’s get down to it.

Lingerie

Women often like to wear lingerie as that’s what’s most commonly thought of as an outfit of choice for a boudoir photo shoot session. And I sometimes get asked: Do I bring my own lingerie? The answer to that question is an absolute yes! You can shop your closet to see what you already have or visit your fav lacey things store and pick up something new. Definitely try it on before session day as you never know if it might have faded or gotten ripped somehow. I’d hate for you to find that out right before your shoot.

I have a Dress-Up Box of fun things that you can go through upon arrival at the studio. They’re mostly accessory type of items, like robes, leather body harnesses, or an over top dress etc. I do have a few bodysuits you can try on, but keep in mind they might not be the right fit for you so best to bring your own just to be safe. If you do opt for one of my bodysuits, you’ll have to copy those lady-bits and wear a thong underneath it.

Non-Lingerie

As we usually shoot 3 outfits, you have the opportunity to wear other non-lingerie outfits as well. Perhaps you have a dress you feel super sexy in, or a plush deep V cashmere sweater. Whatever you want to wear you can wear, as it’s your session.

You can wear something that’s more of an everyday item aka jeans and a tee, or something that you’ve never worn before but feel inspired to wear during this shoot. You get to be authentically you so if there’s something that is calling your name, bring it. I even had one client wear her fav overalls with nothing underneath. Not typically boudoir, but her photos were amazing and it was so her! Boudoir does not have to be lingerie. It can be whatever you want it to be.

Nothing At All

Naked, or close to it, is also an option. Often times, women arrive at the studio and we pick their three outfits but then during the session, their confidence builds, they get more comfortable being in front of the camera and they decide to be more naked than planned. And that’s perfectly ok. I’m here to support you through your session and provide a safe space for you to feel comfortable to wear whatever you want, or as little as you want.

Women surprise themselves sometimes and end up wearing less clothing than anticipated because they feel so alive and sexy in the moment. They get to explore that part of themselves that doesn’t always have the opportunity to just be. I'm here to empower you to be you, even if it’s a different facet of you.

Pack It Up

Before your session we’ll touch base on the phone, so if you have any clothing questions, just ask. And, when you arrive at the studio we’ll have some time to go through all of your items and pick what you’ll wear before we get started. So, be sure to pack up all of the options and then that day we can see how you’re feeling and what will work best.

These are your photos and I want you to have the most wonderful experience so please let me know if you have other questions. Check out my FAQ page on my website as I may have the answers there.
