A Sibling Band Making Music Together For Their Branding Session
The Macarons Project is a music collaboration between brother and sister, Dito and Ree. What is their band name all about? Well, just like macarons, with all the different tastes and colours (yum!), this musical project explores various music genres of cover songs.
I first met Ree (that’s her nickname – her given name is Hubertine) as she is also a designer and she had referred clients to me. Thanks again Ree! She is the singer in this sibling duo and her voice is amaaaazing! And I’m not just saying that. You really must have a listen! Her brother Dito is the talented guitar player and together, their band creates the most beautiful, chill music. Have a listen here: themacaronsproject.com. I’m actually listening to them right now while I’m typing up this post.
Flexing My Creative Muscles
One thing I love about being a photographer is that I’m also an artist, and so I love it when I get to really push my creativity. Get out of my box so to speak and do something a little different than what I typically do.
In my mind, art is forever fluid and ever-changing so I need to try new things, and flex those creative muscles in a different way.
Thanks to Dito and Ree, I got to do just that and I’m so glad they trusted me for their Branding Session.
How We Branded The Macarons Project
To represent their music, Dito and Ree wanted to have a more moody vibe for their Branding Images. Some darker tones, not light, bright and airy. We decided to do their shoot at the Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver set amongst the beautiful tall trees of the West Coast forest.
The mossy branches, rugged cedar stumps and a still gray-sky day were the perfect combination for creating the mood for their photos. We all really enjoyed the shoot, and the best part was getting to listen to Ree’s soothing voice the entire time!
I’m Such A Tease
Lucky for me, I got to work with Ree again recently on a totally different collaboration. I’m not going to spill the beans on that just now, but keep your eyes open for an upcoming newsletter to learn more on that.
In the meantime, if your creative juices are flowing with ideas for your own Branding Session, please contact me. Let’s talk about your vision!
