WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO CELEBRATE BEING FAB OVER 40?

Why shouldn’t we? We celebrate youthful milestones with reckless abandonment, and no one questions it. The expectation of celebratory abandonment fades when we show signs of grace and experience. I want my kids to know age means nothing. We are fabulous and should always celebrate, no matter the rules or norms.

WHAT DID YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE?

I loved the outfits. I loved how I felt in them. I loved watching my quiet self take up more space, be a little louder, and feel more confident.

HOW HAS YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR BODY CHANGED OVER TIME?

Over time, I have slowly begun to love myself a little more and accept my faults and blemishes as strengths, not weaknesses. Every dimple, scar, and painful memory are all part of me, and I finally appreciate that fact for how amazing it is.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU LIKE TO OFFER OTHER WOMEN?

The moment you begin to age is when you stop finding joy in taking part in things you love. Turn off expectations, including your own, and invest the time and effort in getting to know your authentic, genuine self. You will be pleasantly surprised to see what you find.

Stop listening to what people say or think. Their opinions of you are none of your business and will do you no good to assign value to them.
